Field Service Senior Technician

 

LOCATION:

Noblesville, IN / remote

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintain effective customer support by providing service to all company machinery at a customer’s location under limited supervision at INDEX Corporation.
  • Mentor and coach junior technicians in their technical capabilities.
  • Stay proficient on all product lines.
  • Stay abreast of company’s software tools.
  • Provide remote technical support via phone, email and tele service.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machinery malfunctions at customer site.
  • Execute installs, repairs, inspections, sets up and testes on two machine product lines targeted by Regional Service Manager, with minimal guidance of senior and lead service technician.
  • Dismantle defective components, equipment or parts and installs, adjusts and tests new or repaired parts to Index standards.
  • Maintain high proficiency on multiple product lines with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings gears and other parts of machinery.
  • Install and create machine archives and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment such as transformers and wiring.
  • Install and repair hydraulic, coolant or pneumatic systems that are associated with the machine.
  • Return all remaining parts with the correct paperwork and correct packaging to the Company’s office.
  • Submit all service paperwork and expenses weekly, and on time.
  • Update IUS team with daily updates.
  • Maintain a neatly organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Adhere to all customer and INDEX-specified safety requirements.
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity while working on the customer site or in the office.

**This position is 100% remote. Up to 80% domestic travel to client’s locations and 5% international travel for training or short projects.**

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree in Electronics, Hydraulics, or other mechanical-related field, or foreign equivalent. Will accept an equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. Also, 5 years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment where field service skills were essential to the overall operations of the organization is required. In alternative, we will accept 6 years of previous experience in a manufacturing environment where field service skills were essential to the overall operations of the organization (without degree). Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, and experience.

Position also requires:

  • Experience with service engineering, including installation, maintenance, and repair of machines
  • Experience with interpretation of specialty documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Experience with writing routine reports and correspondence
  • Experience in customer service; experience with calculating discounts, interests, commissions, proportions, percentages, areas, circumferences, and volume
  • Experience applying concepts of algebra and geometry
  • Experience training junior technicians in their technical abilities
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment where field service skills were essential to the overall operation of the organization
